ALIMONY…….... Alternate subject titles- THEY MADE ME A CRIMINAL, PLUNDER ROAD, FALL GUY, THE LONG GOODBYE or SHAKEDOWN IN JERSEY. I was hired by the New Jersey Alimony reform coalition to illustrate artwork promoting a bill to revamp New Jersey's alimony laws. The bill encourages a transition to independence for divorcing couples rather than Alimony as a "Lifetime Award or entitlement" for one spouse who never has to work again. The current laws are outdated resulting in bankruptcy, incarceration, fleeing the country or worse for the money earner. I read some truly horrific cases of couples that sounded more like bad pulp fiction. HENCE…..my version of a pulp fiction B-movie poster showing these outdated laws.
