John Wayne

This large portrait of John Wayne was done with only 3 colors of oil paint: black, white, and burnt sienna. What a challenge! The painting is in oil on canvas and measures 24" X 18". When asked, "why John Wayne?" my reply was simple, I was given a canvas that had The Duke penciled in, and although I changed it, the piece was an inspiration of another artist. I was then told that John Wayne had a deathbead conversion to Christ and with that I felt even more inspired to finish the painting. It will be shown this weekend on historic Dexter Avenue in Downtown Montgomery, Alabama at the second annual street fair in the Old Kress Building.
