Faubourg à m'lasse Montreal - Joys of Winter by Pr

Le Faubourg à m'lasse: the origins of an urban legend called Molasses Town 1800- 1963 It was told that during hauling barrels of molasses, the women of the neighborhood went on the docks with small containers. At the end of the transfer on the platform of the cargo of molasses, crane operator voluntarily dropped the last barrel, for clumsiness, and women gathered molasses in their little containers to take home. Between 1960 and 1963 six thousand of the poorest people were evicted from this suburd and all their homes demolished. This is a depiction of daily life in the hood.
