I was waiting for my car to be serviced earlier in the week and I had nothing to draw on so used one of their napkins. I sort of liked it and since I've not been painting much lately, thought I'd upload. It's 3 by 8.5 inches and a thoughtful addition to Original Jones Art coming at you from Austin, TX.

There was a time in the early 60's when I did a lot of pen and ink work. I've never shown any of it here as it was book illustration and edge trim. My crosshatching was a bit tighter, Generally we worked very large and then reduced it to fit the small pages of a book. We never worked small and blew it up.

Artist Reply: I've always used technique my own way, Stan, and using lines for emphasis, either crossed or not, just seemed to work here. I mean I was drawing in a waiting room using a magazine as a support in my lap. The gel pen I used was just the pen I had on me. I drew on what was at hand, in this case a napkin. It isn't a perfect drawing; there are no perfect drawings. I do a lot a sketches I don't feel work and sometimes the ones I feel do emerge at less than optimal times and rather unusual places. I hope and yours are doing great and are gearing up for the Holiday Season ahead. :)
