Humans swim in a sea of chaotic emotions, just as their brains float in little boxes of synaptic disco lights. Yet we are being de-sensitized to our own plight and re-programmed to suit marketers and politicians. Is it any wonder that some of us seek a calmer less stimulated existence? This vague yet insistent desire to dis-connect, to unplug, to reach an emotional neutrality, is this what feeds our growing chemical dependence?
