It seems that every so often I come up with an image with a bird's nest and many times there are three eggs. It may have something to do with the fact that I had two additional siblings. But I do know that I equate the nest with eggs as a symbol for potential, for creativity, for something new. You know the old cliche of the guy with the light bulb turning on over his head when he comes up with the ideal solution? Well, I guess I have an egg hatch, maybe more. :) This is a 6 by 4.5 inches gel pen drawing on medium bond paper and another of those nesting examples of Original Jones Art that keep hatching in northwest Austin, Texas. Heck, maybe the idea was unconscious and brought on by the fact that I watched a female grackle filling her little beak with straw for her nest this afternoon. Stranger things have happened.

wow...nest in the brain...good

Artist Reply: Thank you, Maria, much appreciated. Yes, I like to think there's something between the ears that promises change and/or regeneration. Something 'different' is sorely needed these days, I think. :)

Did you not study grackle at UTA? She most likely had the answer to your quagmire. You know birds are the great philosophers of our age,,,we have no Plato, no Aristotle, no Socrates, no Dale Carnage...without birds,...well I shudder to think....

Artist Reply: I think I studied pigeon more than grackle at the time, Elton. It's like I should have taken Chinese instead of German. Rats! Or is that 'nuts?' 'Dale Carnage?' I like it. :)
