Palintinus

I started the outline for this piece months ago and left thinking...what on earth was I trying to create? It had just the large squarish shape and adjoining towers. Then one day after starting at it for awhile the idea was born. It's not common for buildings to have wings but it seemed fitting. I wanted to name it something to represent a palace or palisade..the word 'Paloquin' kept coming into my mind. Finally I decided on the Latin word Palatinus because it reminded me of what a Roman emperor would envision...in a fashion. I also experimented with a colored pencil background that has been 'rubbed' together for a smooth transition of color. Marker/Colored Pencil on paper. 24x18
