Too long in isolation, living solely in one's head, can lead to some very dark thoughts. If one is ill of body or mind, this can lead to drastic and irreversible actions. In my case, it has lead to inaction and a feeling of hopelessness. As I attempt to overcome this dire lethargy, I am so relieved to know that I am lucky to be equipped with the tools to understand what I am going through and to counter-act. This is a 7 by 4.5 inches gel pen drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. You see small marks of color pencil here and there as this was part of a backing sheet I used on my clipboard as I worked on several color pieces. I rather like the effect. This is another piece of Original Jones Art as he attempts to rise from the depths here in northwest Austin, Texas.

Just so you are running --even against the wind-- and not letting it all slip away...I am doing welll....covid shot yesterday...not rumming on all 8 cyls today but still chugging.. I .did not mean to say anything reprehensible aout your condition--just wanted to make sure you were not plunging to the bottom but instead surging to the top for fresh air and dunshine...All my best to you Charles..

Artist Reply: I didn't find anything reprehensible in your comment, Elton---but watch the rum and the' rumming' especially if tooling around behind 8 cylinders. Just funning. A spot of humor beats a shot of bourbon any day. Maybe not a shot of vaccine though. :)

O.K. charles''SO YOU FELL OFF THE HORSE====PICK YURSELF UP AND GET BACK ON....NO MORE MOPING AND KICKING YOURSELF FOR FAILURES--T HAT DEFINITELY REVEAL LACK OF GOD-LIKE QUALITIES -WHY WAST TIME WITH ALL THIS INTROVERTED SELF EVALUATION ---TURN IT OVER TO HIM..AND LET GOD RULE THE UNIVERSE...AND YOU ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE COURSE OF HUMANITY BUT YOU CAN SPREAD YOUR JOY ABOUT AND BLESS OTHERS AND IN SO DOING FEEL THE JOY OF LIVING.A NOTHER DAY ...STAY ALIVE MAN...AND START LIVING THE JOY...I DONT WNT TO LOSE ANOTHER FRIEND..STAY WITH ME!!!

Artist Reply: I appreciate you classifying me as a friend, Elton. Trouble is I've lived my whole like in 'introverted self-evaluation' as you called it. It has its positives and negatives like everything else. I wouldn't be me without it. Now whether that's actually a positive, well...most days I like being who I am. I'm not down and out yet. Just had the wind knocked out. Hope you are doing great up there in Dallas. :)

I sure hope you have the TOOLS,&the BRAINS to get yourself out of what you Feel & protray of yourself,,that's not GOOD. CHARLES,,,,,,,what your saying is you have no motivation, somewhat depressed, maybe over worked.,,,Viewing your pal here he sure shows signs of sleepiness,,,all stressed out,sluggish...Hey CHARLES,!!!time for a 180 degrees, get some fresh air, exercise,,eat healthy,,time to get it together.,,,WAKE UP & SMELL the roses,,,,or maybe I should say ,,,LIFE..I want to see the next sketch with a guy with a smile ready to face the day,,,my wife says who is this guy,one time Mr.Potatoe head ,now look at him,,,,she doesn't even recognize this person,,,COME ON!!!

Artist Reply: Well, Al, I was speaking of myself personally but in what I hoped would come across with just a hint of optimism. I was also referring obliquely to all the inhumane acts folks have been perpetrating on other folks lately---shootings, beatings, etc. As low as I have felt sometimes, especially since my heart started giving me fits, I have never felt the impulse to lash out at anyone. What the world needs is a greater sense of empathy for all living things. Perhaps then Man can start living according the the Golden Rule. PS--I got out of the house twice today and interacted (a little) with my fellow travelers. It felt good. :)
