Amador Causeway

Ft. Amador causeway was created from the dirt taken out of the Panama Canal; it is the causeway to each of the 3 fortified islands. Ft. Amador was one of the many military bases on the Panama Canal Zone. It had a beach, the Army Navy Officers Club & a Golf Club that it allowed U.S. Government Civilian employees be members to. My parents were members of all 3 & we had a sticker on our car that allowed us to be waved through at the guard gate. My 16th birthday party was held at the Amador Army & Navy Officers Club, my parents golfed at the Amador Golf Club almost every weekend & I with friends & as family & alone went to the Amador Beach. I painted this from a photo I took more recently. The causeway had grass & palm trees on either side of the road. Panama changed it up with a pinkish/reddish tile or brick with benches on it & a side walk right next to it on the sides of the road.
