As I look back across the high grass I scarcely see a trace of where I've been. But I well recall my journey, most of it I do, though some of it, I suppose, is better left behind. There were tangled brush and briars and every step uncertain. How did I ever find my way! Yet there WAS a way. There was ALWAYS a way. And pressing on I came upon this lovely field, a prize worth all my effort. Pausing here a moment, and just a moment more I look back across this high grass to see where I have been. I'll pause for just a moment... and perhaps a moment more. - Robert Springs 2021

VERY NICE PAINTING. IT REMINDS ME OF WHEN WE WERE CHILDREN RUNNING IN FIELDS WITH HIGH GRASS . WILD FLOWERS .AND LOT OF BUTTERFLIES .. MORE RARE NOW

Artist Reply: Those are my memories, as well. Thanks, Marie.

This painting has helped me understand how to convey depth (even in a featureless green field) by changing the orientation of strokes from vertical in the foreground, to horizontal as distance increases. I have been stuck at this stage for a while now.

Artist Reply: You know, I didn't realize I was doing that but you're right! Thanks for your comment.
