A few days ago I rearranged my work area and dug through several piles of drawings. This one surfaced and I thought it was worth sharing. When I saw it I thought that here is the face of the pandemic. This is a gel pen drawing on medium bond acid-free paper and a 'happy happy' example of Original Jones Art as he awaits the next calamity in northwest Austin, Texas.

He certainly looks as if he feels miserable. And yes, the pandemic has made a lot of people miserable, even those who did not or do not have the virus nor anyone close to them. God is probably miserable too watching us!!!

Artist Reply: The funny thing is I did this probably fall of 2019 which is well before corona was anything more than a Mexican beer. And I also buried it in a pile instead of notebooking it as I usually do with 'keepers.' So maybe this is more a piece of personal therapy than a conscious artistic effort, Ginger. Now THAT I can wrap my head around. Thanks! :)

strong conveyance of feeling here Charles , and is what great expressionist work does : )

Artist Reply: Over the years, I don't think I ever shot for making an image that is purely pretty and/or thought about what a viewer might 'prefer.' I feel that would be bending what should emerge unadulterated into something palatable for someone else's consumption. My work could be defined as an acquired taste. I make no apology for that. I'm sure you feel the same, Dave. :)

I love it

Artist Reply: Thanks, Ray! Yeah, he's go that certain 'something' for sure. :)
