A simple b and w sketch that I chose not to color. It's actually one of several drawings I made today. In 2018 a few months before my 'forced' retirement, the school I worked for was having a Book Fair which was one of the major ways in which the library made money to support itself. I had an office in the same building and could hear the librarian tell the kids that they didn't have anything to sell for a dollar or less. I must have heard this half a dozen times and then it dawned on me to draw some quick small sketches and put them on the table with the rest of the goods. My little handwritten placard read, 'Mr. Jones Drawings 25 cents each or 5 for a dollar.' I did it for a lark but had to make more before the fair was over. It seems they were a mini-hit. I remember finding out later that several kids colored theirs. This is a 7 by 5.5 inches gel pen drawing on medium weight acid-free paper. It's a pure and simple example of Original Jones Art as he wonders what those kids are up to nowadays as he works at home in northwest Austin, Texas.

Awww, that was so nice of you to do that for those kids! What a neat idea. Love this one and especially the title. You always do such marvelous work and have such a fab imagination.

Artist Reply: I had in mind to make that a tradition but circumstances, destiny, fate, whatever, had other plans. I think I drew more than forty of them and only had a few left at the end of the fair, Ginger. I used index cards I had lying about and got four drawings from each 6 by 4 inch card. It was fun, really. Thanks!
