In the Bleak Midwinter

In the Bleak Midwinter, frosty wind made moan... Christina Rossetti's poem seemed to me to offer an appropriate title for this monochrome watercolor (sepia only on Millford paper). The atmosphere outside is cold and inhospitable, yet the warmth of the house is welcoming a weary traveller home.
