I had this drawing sitting near my workstation and thought I'd add a little color. Started a painting, two actually, I'm not happy with. I have such a rhythm going with my drawings these days, they are difficult to pull away from. This is a 7 by 5.5 inches gel pen drawing with color pencil on medium bond acid-free paper. It's what Original Jones Art uses for a coloring book on a warm December day in northwest Austin, Texas.

I LOVE THE LIGHT ON HIS FAVE AND ALSO HIS FEIGNED SMILE ..

Artist Reply: Thank you, Marie! So my figure's smile seems 'pretend' or a bit forced. Hmmm. You may be on to something there. Happy Holidays to you. :)

I understand completely! In addition to painting, I make note cards and it's all "art" but difficult to switch between the two! I think drawing and painting would fall under that category too. I like this one's hair/cap? The color you used for shading the face and neck - very interesting. Like it.

Artist Reply: I have been studying some of Bernard Buffet's paintings and think his way of painting would simply things for me. Also I think I should find and/or stretch tall narrow canvases/surfaces, since many of my ideas lean in that direction. My two recent painting attempts suffered compositional and would have benefited from custom sizes, I think, Ginger. Also going with oil, even at this late date, would most likely be a plus. I am older but not exactly stagnate between the ears---at least yet. :)
