This is another envelope drawing, obviously. I had started something where I tried to use a wash and then add the pen but it didn't flow so then I started this. This is an 8 by 3.5 inches gel pen with a bit of charcoal pencil drawing on medium bond textured envelope paper. Yes, it's Original Jones Art as he stays up on Christmas Eve figuring Santa will see his name on that other list here in northwest Austin, Texas.

Hope you made the "better" list this year. In 2022, I think I will look at the inside of envelopes differently. Might even find an interesting way to use them, not exactly as you have but you've given me ideas! Thanks, Charles! Merry Christmas to you in Austin, TX!

Artist Reply: Well, I'm not one who usually holds with gimmicks. I see a lot of 'artists' who have one or more---most of them appropriated from a person long past being able to speak up on his/her own behalf---but the envelope drawings came about sort of by accident. I found myself, after paying bills, drawing on the outside of some envelopes. I like the tooth/texture of them. When I went to cut the drawings out of one, I noticed the interesting design inside. I then searched other envelopes and found that the design differed on several. It's only been since the pandemic, I think, that I've used the 'security pattern' as part and parcel of a drawing. Merry Christmas to you too. :)
