Words II or 2. As luck would have it, the first bit of sunshine which was actually day before yesterday, led me to rush out with a painting and the camera to take some quick snaps. That sunshine lasted a very short time and now there's about an inch accumulation of snow and ice out front. BUT the five or six snaps netted one good one which, unfortunately, isn't the first or even the second in the series. The first one was an impulse, an accident, a way of spewing thoughts. When I was young, starting around the age of 12, I started writing 'journals' and stories like 'The Great Bubblegum Conspiracy.' In fact, I think that title was its greatest achievement. Anyway, I also wrote poetry. My first effort was about a poem titled 'A Progressive Regression' written, I'm thinking, in the early 80's. I had some acrylic paint in condiment bottles, I'd used to 'draw' on a couple of recent paintings. I used one 16 by 12 inches canvas like a sheet of writing paper, then another and another. I just wrote what bubbled up, what I was thinking, feeling. So, yes, this is a 16 by 12 inches canvas using these bottles to write layers of words over a two-day period. It's what Original Jones Art does to remind himself of his roots and to communicate that need to communicate here in northwest Austin, Texas.
