People have told me that I could design a fantastic chess set. I didn't really give it a lot of thought before now. But if one looks at my truncated beings on a flat plane, a synthetic landscape, it seems reasonable to also see an expanded assemblage ready to 'play the game.' And Chess is a war-like game with both sides attacking one another. And pawns are a necessary ingredient to any war game. This is a 7 by 5 inches gel pen with color pencil drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. Original Jones Are shouts out to all the other pawns from his castle keep here in northwest Austin, Texas.

His pawnship is looking quite young with vim & vigor. I like the orange hair too. Nice piece Charles : )

Artist Reply: Yeah, maybe just hopeful of projecting that onto me, Dave? I was probably unconsciously thinking of the age of most pawns on the front lines. Thanks! :)
