Sand Hill Cranes are wading birds; not swimmers. (see photo below). For the 2nd year she has nested on a stump in the middle of a deep slew. Last year the baby could not vacate the nest...alas an Eagle took it .... morale = if you are a ground nester (they are) do not nest in the open
