Here’s an update on my drawing “The Tramp (A Self Portrait) 9 x 12 Arteza Expert Graphite Pencils on Arteza Premium 80lb Drawing Pad paper. I’m slowly moving along, still layering my graphite by making tiny overlapping circular motions with my pencil. I start with light pressure using a 6H pencil, the tip barely touching the paper to get a nice even light tone. I slowly begin to add my darker tones by using 4H, 2H, H, HB, B, 2B, and finally 4B - I feel that I don’t need to go any darker than 4B right now (but Arteza’s 33 set goes up to 14B so I’m happy that I have a dark pencil if I need it). For my cap, I add the detail by taking the Arteza brush eraser which I cut the tip at an angle to get a nice sharp edge to “draw” the light lines in my cap. More to come soon!
