Another experiment. I used the postcard blanks I found recently and attempted a mingling of watercolor and gel ink. No color pencils this go around. In the previous piece I used the gel ink over the watercolor after it had dried. In this one, I drew with gel pen first and THEN added the watercolor. What I found was the unfortunate fact the gel ink I used wasn't truly waterproof. Its lines became diluted and weaker with the addition of watercolor. Anyway, I have some sumi ink in that green bottle that I've had for years. I have lots of nibs around here, so I'll try that next. This is 5.5 by 4.25 inches in size and another experimental example of Original Jones Art as it continues to materialize in northwest Austin, Texas.

He looks well rested and determined, Charles : ) Hope you have a relaxing Sunday

Artist Reply: Well, he's either forging ahead or about to fall over, I think. This one used gel ink and watercolor only with results that made me hesitate to upload the finished result. But the interesting thing I've found over the years is the fact that work I'm a bit doubtful of has sometimes proved to be enjoyable by the viewer. I guess that's the difference between the maker and the passerby coming upon the work after the fact. Hope you've kept warm up there, Dave. We're back in the mid-60's today. Oh well. :)
