Mela, newborn

This is a dear friend's baby that I did a portrait of when she was a newborn. Mela is a pale blone beauty just as her mother is. Her mother grew up with my daughters, and is like a daughter to me. I painted this using my wacom tablet and Painter Classic software. This is not a manipulated photo. It is painted one stroke at a time. I used airbrush, pastels, and water to create this look.

Artist Reply: Thank you! I am learning to do details of babies now, and bugging family and friends for models. That way, I don't get to the point I've memorized facial features and get lazy. I like a challenge.
