The young man in the painting uses his cart to transport fruit and vegetables from the market place, to anywhere his customers direct.Outside the market, there used to be many young men with carts waiting for customers. When they were hired, they would steer their carts rapidly through the streets to their destination, then return to the market to get more customers. The young men and their carts were very instrumental in aiding those who had little shops where they sold vegetables etc., and had no other means of transporting their goods. Now things might have improved, as many of the owner of the little shops might have their own means of transport. I suspect that the Hustlers are disappearing.
