Afternoon in the Valley

Yosemite Valley Image of El Capitan on the left, Bridalveil Falls on the right and the Merced River. Half Dome is hidden in the center right from this angle. This was a tricky shot as far as contrast of dark and light of what the slide film could handle. This was taken in the latter part of the afternoon so you are starting to get more dramatic light and shade do to the Granite walls and the angle of the sun as it starts to go behind them. I wanted to try and capture some of the light filtering through the trees on to the rock and grass in the shaded part of the river. Basically try a different angle one may not see taken in this wildly photographed Iconic National Park. Yosemite National Park ©GaryGlass

A beautiful picture of one of my favorite places - I spent every summer here, with my parents, during the 50's. The lighting reminds me of some of the old classic paintings of Yosemite.

You've captured this scene, nicely. Great use of light and composition.
