Day's End Tulips

Here is another of my tulip series I have just finished. Again I am playing with the lighting and background colors to add to the mood of the composition. This one is a digital painting, as you can see by the close up view. It is not a photo or a result of a photo program with artistic effects work. I used an electronic drawing tablet with wireless stylus pen that attaches to my computer to draw, then paint this work. It took many hours to complete it. I used Corel's Painter X art software, which tends to be my favorite for painting. It lets you do the choices of paints, texture, sizes, colors, blends, & medium to mimic, the closest to the real medium in results that I've found. I used blends of medium styles such as chalks, pastels, airbrush, and oils to create the resulting look of this painting. May your day's end always have beauty, and the enchantment of nature to lift your spirits.

Wonderful piece!, fabulous movements, lighting and color.

Artist Reply: Thanks Bill! I have found a love for floral & lighting paintings. I am experimenting at home with some lighting effects to get the values I want in a painting. I'm a a budget so get creative with the refeference shots I take. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, but I'm getting the hang of what I want to happen for the paintings.

This is an amazing demo of what a talented artist can do with computer-based tools. People sometimes don't understand that an artist is still painting when they paint with a mouse. Great work Terry!

Artist Reply: Thank you David! It does get confusing for even artists on what is digital art. There are ever evolving areas and combinations that are being used. There's photo editing & effects using software or hand ditigal painted elements, there's manipulations, 3-D, and digital painting. As I may use all or combinations of them, I try to remember to describe how I created each work. If I spent hours digitally painting something I want the viewer to know I didn't click a program artistic effect. Many of my designs use my own photos &/or paintings that I manipulate and combine to get results. I don't want to confuse as there are so many ways to create digital art. I like the challenge of doing as muchof the work myself, to get the most control. I experiment often to try to get better results, try unusual combinations of medias and brushes, textures, and rework areas until I'm happy with the results. If not, I will wait and take another look at a work to see it with fresh eyes. Sometimes, I will learn or figure out how to do a previous work to get a better result & will update the work. I love when software upgrade as it gives me new options & things to try out. I am always learning something new each time I work. I love trying out new ideas & color blends, not to mention lighting effects & reflection. To me, I am still evolvong as an artist, and hope I will c0ntinue to improve & expand my interests & styles.

Artist Reply: Thank you Dee!!!! Your works are developing more and more as I have enjoyed watching them do so. When I get comments from others that my works bring them delight, that's priceless to me. To me that's what the art is all about- connecting.
