Main Street Mackinac Island ca 1885

This is 7x10 inch watercolor of Main Street on Mackinac Island about 3 decades before it became a National Park and was a well know vacation area of the wealthy of what was known as Americas gilded age. This was my first attempt at using my first computer to develop a painting. I painted this miniature to get a feel of what the Mackinac Island looked like in the American Polychrome era.

Wow, a wonderful painting of Mackinac Island! How interesting that you used your computer to aid in this piece. I am assuming you did research on Mackinac with the pc. It was a wonderful place when I visited it about 35 years ago!

Artist Reply: Dear Julie, This is one of those rare times I used personal photos from two trips I made to Mackinac Island as support for for this 7 x 10 watercolor.
