Jardin du LaBoheme

This is a fantasy scene I created in 1985. I was watching the movie Wallenberg, starring Richard Chamberlin about Raoul Wallenberg the Swedish diplomat who ran an underground railroad helping to rescue Jews in Budapest Hungary from Nazi death camps during world war II. There was a scene where Wallenberg walks out of a building to meet someone secretly at the foot of a hill that looked like it could have been at the foot of Monmartre in Paris. I took that momentary image that I saw and quickly drew what was my impression of the scene. I developed the composition using a coffee table book I bought on Paris for the architectural detailing and painted this watercolor which has been one of my favorite watercolors of my entire career. The painting is 18x 24 inches and is owned by Datum Inc.
