George Washington Bridge from Overlook Park

© jc warburton 09, Nikon D90,Nikkor 18-200mm 1:3.5 – 5.6 VR lens, tone mapping. The GWB, upper level, opened for traffic on Oct. 25th, 1931. The lower level, referred to as "Martha", LOL, was opened in 1962. It's a beautiful suspension bridge connecting Washington Heights, Bronx, New York to Fort Lee, New Jersey. There's a walkway on the north and south side of this suspension bridge and it's not a walk for the faint of heart. The guard rail comes up just a bit higher than waist level and it's not solid. I could actually imagine a small child slipping through and falling off this bridge. You can't take any bridge photos while on the bridge except at the halfway mark. There's security at both ends, in the middle, and an officer on a bicycle who goes back and forth. The bridge is owned and run by the Port Authority of New York, New Jersey.

This is a gorgeous shot. A sunny blue day would be lovely too.
