As the trail gets back down on the river, my fishing instincts kick in. My husband and I have fished this river for steelhead over 30 years. My dad was always down here with his pole and some crazy friends years ago. The far bank has the swifter current, so the fish tend to come up the close shore. This used to be a premier river for Steelhead in the state, but the fish are few and far between now. Over fishing is the biggest culprit, but there are environmental concerns, too. The natives are almost extinct, but the hatcheries are trying to fill that void. It will never be as it was when we were younger..... :-(
