Chinook Pass (Hwy 410)

Chinook Pass is one of the most scenic drives you can take in the State of Washington. There are a couple of other gorgeous drives in the mountains, but this is the best for tremendous views of Mt. Rainier. My husband's brother and family live in Yakima, the largest town on the other side of the pass. We try to make this 2.5 hour trip at least once a summer. This road is closed down from October to first of June every year for snow. It's been a strange year for high-meadow flowers, they are late and not as plentiful, but still a treat for the eyes. Even now in August, there is still a little snow left at this 5,500 ft. elevation. We had a nice visit and brought back fresh peaches. Yakima is famous for their orchards of many different fruits....
