Art SALE!

Curious if anyone has made any sales on AW so far this year? Feel free to boast about it, here. My number of sales so far this year is zero, hoping that improves :)

I have not had any direct sales from here. However, I have had people contact me because I have my AW link on my business card. This site has been used mainly as my personal art gallery storage facility.

No, I have not sold anything on Artwanted and consider it just a Share Site sharing images or artwork or paintings. If I can say something that will cheer up another artist or photographer, I will. I haven't added any art for a long time, although I have some to share. Just not motivated, I guess. As for money, many talented artists have died poor and struggling and the collectors and dealers made the profit many years later. That's life.

Good to know you’re driving traffic to AW, Cheryl! Let’s hope you get some sales here too!

Hi Linda, AW is a nice site to show and share your work on, I agree. There are so many artists who do make money from their artwork, I guess it really depends on the individual and if they treat their art as a hobby or a business. Interesting discussion, tho!

Best sales for me had always been live in person because printing can’t show effects and texture.

I hope more artists wil find opportunities or create them to show original work rather than trying to rely on print sales.

Art Fair Insiders offer opportunities to show as well as local art fairs.

Hi Vincent, during Covid, artists had no choice but to rely on print on demand sites like AW for sales. Looks like most of us are getting back to art fairs and markets this year, thank goodness. I do agree that selling original artwork in person is better than selling online, I totally get that.

Zero!

Only if self-sales count! Needed a new cell phone cover, so I thought I would give AW a try. We'll see. MAL

That's excellent, Mark, keep us posted for sure!

Brian, I'm curious, are you saying zero sales from the moment you joined AW or just this year so far?

Mark A. Lembo 03 Jun 2021

On phone case: Ordered on 5/26, expected delivery 6/03.

Will post pic and review later today, or tomorrow.

Case arrived a day late - thanks to USPS, not AW. Case fits tightly with plenty of clearance to access the buttons and ports. Color and image reproduction is impressive. I would say a great deal with the AW discount.

Cheers, MAL

I have been a member here on AW since mid-2007. There have been a handful of sales during all that time. Mostly from other artists here---not your random drive-by purchaser. I researched--and continue to do so--what other sites are offering and for what amount of money and still find AW a viable virtual place to be. The management is, shall we say, opaque; certainly not transparent. And their follow-thru leaves something to be desired. As I have invested a lot of time to organize my work to show progression over decades, I hope I never have to leave it behind.

I know folks have different ideas bouncing around in their heads about what art is and why theirs is worthy of this or that. It goes with the territory. Personally, I've never thought of what I do as a business or money-making proposition. I could use less energy and time and make more money; indeed, I have. Being an artist is sort of like being a Buddhist monk. If you choose to be one for the right reason, it becomes a way of life.

And, no, no sales so far in 2021 on AW. :)

None, here either.

This is a great topic, I never really planned on selling my work, mostly because I don't know if anyone would want my art. I consider myself to be a portrait artist, I love drawing people, but I always feel that no one would want to buy one of my drawings of someone else.

I believe that in order to make sales, we as artists have to promote and market ourselves, really push the products in our shops, and go out and find those who are looking for the type of art we create.

I sell things on redbubble and have been there for much longer than here. In my opinion I think it's the economy. When gas prices get this high and all other costs to live the first thing that goes out the window is art.

It happened in 2008 to me on redbubble I was selling before that very steady.
