Aine originates from Cork, Ireland. She lived there until her late teens - then she travelled around Europe and finally settled down in London. There she studied for her BA hons., Fine art. A Masters in fine art, was undertaken In Barcelona, Spain. And in 1999 further postgraduate studies were undertaken at Wimbledon School of Art in London. She has exhibited widely throughout London most notably with a fairly recent project organised through the Tate Gallery. Aine has also participated in collaborative projects internationally and been involved in exhibitions in USA, Canada, Australia, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, China, South America and Africa.
I am a fine artist to my core, this said, in the sense that I have never created artwork for a commercial reason. The important thing is the intention and the imagery or symbols that I research/create to convey that. I have made works on subjects such as adoption and of course Identity as these are of particular significance to me. I also attempt to utilize text in my work where it seems appropriate. I think there is a religious aesthetic to my work?
