my grandfather and i went on a nature walk the other day at the dennison pequotsepos nature center located in mystic, ct. we didn't walk very far, but decided to sit by the duck pond. on our way, we saw this pretty sight- a monarch butterfly resting on a turk's cap lily, a splash of vibrant orange among the greens and browns of the wood. of course, i couldn't resist how nicely they went together, both orange in color. the image stayed with me, and i painted this for my grandfather, in memory of all the nature walks we have enjoyed over my lifetime, which must count into the hundreds.

Gorgeous, Laura. Absolutly beautiful. Monarchs are the best of the butterflys, in my opinion. Wonderfully rendered.Tahnja Wolter 05 Jan 2007
