Manuel Carmo was born in Lisbon in 1958 and attended the Ar.Co. Painting Course. "The pictorial artists imaginary can be considered architectural, graphic and symbolic" as per "Iberian Art" magazine, on his most recent works.
He starts exhibiting his works in 1985, and, since, his paintings have been in many Exhibitions both in Portugal and abroad.
In 2000, he was awarded by the I Domingos Sequeira Painting Biennal.
Manuel Carmo is the author of two Urban Installations, one for the Lisbon City Hall and the other, under construction, for the Bragança City Hall.
His various serigraphic works have been issued by the Portuguese Serigraphy Centre.
He is also the author of the illustrations appearing in several books. He further made posters for GLRP and for Belém Cultural Centre.
Manuel Carmo is represented in various Foundations and Museums, and is quoted in the books "50 Years of Painting and Sculpture in Portugal", by Miguel Barbosa and Jose Fernando Tavares, and in "Painting in Portugal in 2001", by Carlos Resende.
