Artist Bio

I have spent most of my adult life, and before, studying and engaging myself in the visual arts. Photography has become the medium of choice for me, as I find it to be the most limitless and fulfilling expression of creativity, as well as providing me with the pleasure of being close to the natural world. I am fascinated by the sometimes-surreal scenes throughout nature that seem to unfold for me. It is my goal to engage my viewer with the same sense of mystery and wonder upon viewing my art that I experience while capturing these scenes.

Nature is a wonderful emulator of human emotion, and I'm always moved by the emotional and spiritual "visual parables" that the natural world provides. My art intends to tap into nature to reveal parallels to human emotion. Although you will rarely find people in my images, all of my images are directly about the spectrum of human emotion; struggle and elation, tranquility and chaos, death and rebirth.

The tools I use for my art are a Canon DSLR, 17-40 f4L lens, 100mm f2.8 Macro, 75-200 f4L lens, 400mm f2.8L lens, as well as some homemade pinhole cameras and a rudimentary darkroom setup.
