~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HEATHER LEIGH DOUGLAS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Like many artists I have had a life long passion for all things creative.
I graduated from the University of Vermont as a studio art major. Spent a number of years making and selling batiks of landscapes in the Boston area. I continued to take courses in photography, watercolor and oil painting.
Gradually my focus changed from batiks to photography. After having 3 children I continued to do a lot of black and white photography as well as watercolor since it was easier to manage, but I did not have the time to really delve into art work the way I would have liked!
Several years ago, as my children began to go off to college, I began oil painting on a more serious level. I enjoy plein air when the weather permits, and I also work from my own photographs, so everything I paint is truly an original piece. I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to have lived in Ireland for 4 years, so many of my paintings are of places I've lived or visited, which have touched me in some way.
I am now a member of a "League of Our Own" a group of 20 painters who share a studio space and put on shows together. I have been accepted into numerous juried art shows in the New York Metropolitan area and have sold my work locally as well as taken on commissions.
The works you see here are among some of my smaller paintings. Over time I will add larger pieces.
If you have any questions about any of my paintings, or any interest in purchasing something, please feel free to email me, ([email protected]), and thank you for taking the time to look!
