Michel Landry was born in 1935 in Joliette, Quebec, Canada. He received early training in drawing and painting from Jean-Marie Savignac at Collège Bourget, then continued at Sir Georges Williams Art School, now part of Concordia University. He completed his visual arts studies at the New York School of Visual Arts, from which he graduated in 1958.
Michel worked was a graphic designer for most of his career, from La Presse, Le Petit Journal and Dimanche matin from 1960 to 1971. He then worked with Le Journal de Montréal from 1974 to 1999 designing the "Weekends" supplements.
Throughout his carreer, he kept his artistic passion, working with the early movements of abstractions, automatism and hard-edge. His most recent work shows a great inspiration from traditional Quebec landscapes mixed with bold paint application methods representing his artistic roots and love of freestyle jazz music. Scattered houses and well known patrimoine buildings are displayed in vibrant grass greens or pure snow white backgrounds. Michel's work is easily recognized by it's style and content.
Michel Landry now paints from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Some of his works can also be seen through Galerie 2000.
