Muse Hunting:

Looking for a muse or two (not a moose, so I don't need a hunting tag). Needed (muses) models that are close in proximity to the Los Angeles California area for quick access when inspired or creative energy is flowing. Also need makeup artists, body painters, etc. In exchange, you will get shoots done when you need them for specific needs for your portfolio and digital web-sized copies of all the art work produced. You will also qualify to be featured on my websites. The other advantage is when you need some new work, it's here and free.

Definition:

MUSE: Noun

1: in ancient Greek mythology any of 9 daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne; protector of an art or science [syn: Muse]

2: the source of an artist's inspiration; "Euterpe was his muse"

Current Projects:

I am currently looking for new models with the right look or a collaborative idea I may like. I need new imagery to work my art from. You will receive web sized images for you to post of anything I edit. See my website at Bruster Photography & Art for information on tfcd and a copy of the model release to see if this is something you would like to do. Then send me your ideas, pictures or someplace I can see what you look like and location ideas also.

A little history:

About the age of nine I was given an old Kodak 120 box camera by my dad. Being from Nebraska offered me opportunities galore to use it and shortly after I received it we went to a Native American gathering. Here is where I shot my first photos. The shots were gorgeous and, though I didn't realize it then, I was hooked.

At about 19 I began work in a camera store, owned by Miller & Paine in Lincoln Nebraska, as an assistant manager/buyer.

Now the hook was really set. This afforded me the opportunity to use many different cameras, lenses, and accessories. I shot my sister's wedding (this was in about 1972) and today she still has her favorite picture hanging on her wall.

Well, photography became a hobby of mine for the next 29 years progressively moving from hobby to obsessive passion.

Now that I've taken all the photography and digital design courses at George Mason University it's now moved into the realm of artistic expression with technical expertise. I'm using films and equipment that I previously only dreamed of or never heard of.

When asked about my favorite type of photography, I can give no answer. I don't prefer 35mm over medium format over large format. The only preference I have with Digital or Film, is cost effectiveness and ease of editing. I don't prefer abstract over street photography over photo-journalism over portraiture. I don't prefer silver gelatin (black & white) over color, over transparency, over polaroid. They all have thier advantages and disadvantages. I love them all.

With all my experience in different films, I have discovered and love working with infrared and Kodak's technical panchromatic film designed for the engineering field.

I have been trying my hand at painting watercolor, painting acrylic and hand coloring black and white photos using marshal oils. Now I even mix all these different mediums together at times to create some very interesting and different compositions. Some of my work takes me into the vintage processes of liquid emulsion, cyanotype, van dyke brown, gum bichromate, and others. A lot of my art has taken to multiple media in one composition.

To protect my sanity, I hope to be doing all this right up to the day I die. It grounds me to have the freedom of expression I get through my art.
