Mars grew up in Center Moriches, NY and worked as a carpenter most of his life after serving in the Navy. Then, in his thirties, he suffered an emotional, mental and spiritual crisis from which he embarked upon a walkabout in the desert southwest. During his three-year sojourn he had a spiritual awakening and began to paint with watercolors, then oils, in an effort to heal himself with the benevolence of his Goddess. After returning to New York, he continued to pursue his art and new vocation as a pagan woodworker. He now resides in Manorville, NY living a reclusive lifestyle with his wife and two stepsons, painting and building altars for pagan worshipers. His work has been shown in New York and Nevada and he is a member of the Walker River Artists Guild. On May 31. 2022, this gentle soul passed over from pancreatic cancer. He was loved by many and will be missed.
