Jimmie Lee Brown-1952-Houston,Tx.jimmie lee has studied native american art,their culture and history for over 25 years.His colors are bright and bold adding to an already strong sense of imagery and storytelling.After the Indian wars in the west,the once warriors were encouraged by jesuit priests,to continue to carry on an Art form previously drawn and painted on animal skins recording various events in their lives from warfare and hunts,to even courtship practices.now however, they were given colored inks,pencils,and paper on which to record past exploits,heroic and otherwise.As an artist,I am drawn to this Art form in part because of it's ability to say so much using little or no perspective,and and it's very direct approach at story being told.Jimmie Lee Browns work has been appreciated and enjoyed by astute collectors in the United States,Europe,Australia,and Japan.
