Self Portrait

I developed an interest in photography back in the 70's while traveling throughout Europe on board a US Navy Destroyer. instead of trinkets and various items I figured that images of these places would be a better gift. I got my first 35mm, a Yashica MG-1 Rangefinder in Gibraltar. It has served me well through the 80's as I traveled around the country and got involved with SGI (formerly NSA) Buddhist activities.

I like the outdoors and usually travel solo so a lot of my shots were taken on the run including one from the back of a bus in Wales, UK.

In 1996 I decided to finish up my fledgling attempts at college with a degree in Photography at the Tidewater Community College Visual Arts Center in Portsmouth, VA. It is an exceptional facility designed from the ground up for the arts. It was then that I purchased a used Minolta X-9 which has become my workhorse. I also landed a Ricoh XR-10m from a friend later on. in school I was privileged to be able to work with large and medium format.

After receiving my A.A.S. in Photography, I left my gov't job and traveled around winding up in Edmonton, Canada and then the Sedona, AZ area. Not being able to find sustainable work I wound up in Seattle, WA.

I currently drive a charter bus but keep my handy digital at my side.

A lot of my work is spontaneous. Usually I don't have a lot of time to plan so I shoot from the hip, so to speak. I like the juxtaposition of shapes and lines in nature and cityscapes.

I am currently scanning negatives dating back to the 70's to create an expansive digital file working with Adobe Photoshop.

I am considering sale of my work in the near future.

For now enjoy and thank you for your comments.
