Dikkop (Spotted Dikkop) Burhinus capensis

Wherever we lived in Pretoria we had the pleasure of Dikkop birds resting in our garden during the day. They are active at night. To my absolute delight I saw a pair of them again in our back yard this past week. Their first visit to our retirement home. They also have a nest with two eggs. See the next pics too.

Oh he is so cute :)

Artist Reply: Now Isn't he. And quite a personality too! LOL In our previous home they were brave enough to go for my small dog (A fox terrier) when she came too close and the dog lost every time the little wimp!
