Somthing different from my usual aircraft paintings . . . a portrait of fear triumph and patrotism a young Kamikazi pilot on the brink of his final sacrifice. The philosophy of the kamikaze is a difficult one for western minds to understand. These self- sacrificing attacks offerered pilots the chance to inflict losses on the enemy and to die bravely and in the purest style of ancient Japanese tradition.

A dramatic impressive image.Well done.David Holcombe 05 Oct 2004
There is something ferocious about this portrait. It also has the blank stare of a fanatic which recalls our current suicide bombers. It is poignant without being all that admirable. Perhaps a view of the pray ceremony prior to the flight might evoke more sympathy.sher richardson 21 Sep 2004
