What does it mean to be an introvert? Shy? Quiet? The term used for decades to describe young ladies with this behaviour was 'Wall Flower'. It is an outdated term but once labeled this the sting was painful and in many cases, inescapable. Not everyone is blessed with natural beauty or charm, but an outgoing personality, an ablilty to shine amongst ones peers, can take almost anyone from the sidelines of life and onto the stage of popularity. But what of the introvert, the quiet ones, shy? Are they doomed to a life where what they do goes unnoticed because of people and the labels that have been used to describe them? Is there hope of breaking free from this stigma? Most of us know that it is more than just possible to change how one sees themselves but not everyone is able to accomplish this. Sometimes the idea of being less than everyone else never leaves. For others it not only leaves but because of the frustration of labels and the lies that often accompany this stigma, one can burst forth onto the stage we call life and become a remarkable person. This is a painting of a person shedding the old life with its limitations and bursting forth to forge the life long imagined and hoped for.
