Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson (1767-1845), soldier and statesman, was the seventh president of the United States, from 1829-1837. Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act which forcibly removed Native Americans to Indian Territory. He was the only president to completely pay off the national debt and in 1835 he survived the first attempted assassination of a president.
