Oh he is an absolute beauty! Love how you've photographed him with the orange flowers.
Artist Reply: Thank you Liz. Lucky I guess, and I guess I need to plant some in my yard, because that's where I want them, not in someone else's yard, lol. Lantana is what that's called, comes in a few colors, red, what's photographed, yellow, orange and I've seen a light purple, but hard to find sometimes. You can buy the trailing or leading kind? One grows more like a bush and the other grows outward on the ground. If you live in cold weather climate probably NOT a good thing to grow outside :)
Artist Reply: Thank you Joanie. These guys are hard to get. They're not even supposed to be able to live here, too hot. Someone years ago set some free (as the story goes) and they've flourished in hood's all across the valley. Thanks again Joanie
Artist Reply: Aww thank you Blythe! I would have liked to got them in the palm tree they live in (i think) but never see them there. I hear them fly over, almost too fast to shoot. You hear them coming and they are gone. This day I saw him/her and their mate in some lantana near by. The one flew off noticing me, but the other stayed just long enough to snap a few. I'm trying to figure out all I need to attract them to my yard. Having a cat doesn't help, although he just talks to birds, doesn't chase much anymore. Thanks again!
