NEW PAINTING - "WAITING FOR HIS MASTER" This painting was first conceived in 2011. Then I sketched out the basic parts of it on canvas in 2012.  Then I put it away until January of this year and decided to finally finish it after coming up with some new ideas which I changed many times. I had a basic idea in mind which became the foundation for this painting.  It contained linear perspective for the deck boards, railing and posts as well as railing shadows, besides all the other subject matter. The painting features my family's beloved Husky named "Nathan".  Nathan was a rescue dog from the veterinary hospital in the San Bernardino Mtns. where we lived.  He had been hit on the highway and taken to the hospital where the doctor was able to fix up Nathan, but he had a limp leg after that and ran on three.  He loved to dig holes all over the yard even when there was snow.  He also loved to play with his tennis balls. I photographed Nathan at our Running Springs home between 1995-2005. I gave him the last name of Burdette after a character in a John Wayne movie called Rio Bravo. The Chevy truck is a 1955 "Apache" from the year I was born.  The black & red flannel shirt has been previously featured in three self portraits.

Beautiful painting! I love all the details and animals, especially Nathan!

Artist Reply: Thank you Blonde. It was tedious and I am glad that I stuck it out to finish it.

Artist Reply: Thank you Joanie! I am glad that I stuck with it. It was the last of the unfinished sketched out paintings. It just took some time to devote some ideas to.
