Harry S. Truman (1884–1972), the 33rd president of the United States, led the nation through the final stages of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War. Known for his plainspoken honesty and decisive leadership, he authorized the Marshall Plan, supported the creation of the United Nations, and advanced civil rights at home. Truman’s famous motto, “The buck stops here,” reflected his deep sense of responsibility. This pencil drawing of President Harry S. Truman is by artist Greg Joens.
