Acrylic on stretched canvas. I'm new to painting so this is a step by step from a Jerry Yarnell book. Lots of fun. Next time I'm going to try something of my own. Your comments are appreciated so I can learn from my mistakes. Thanks.

Great job, Michael. Yarnell is a great teacher and you can learn tons from his step-by-steps. And also, consider this your own as well. No step-by-step is going to be an exact copy because your own style will always come through regardless of how much of the painting is exactly copied.
I tried to reply to your message on the message board , but alas, it is not working :D I like this painting, but I see what you mean. Maybe some darker shades in front of your cabin would make it more realistic and the water ,,,I would do about the same..it is a matter of where your light is coming from! Great painting however for a first !!!!!
Artist Reply: Thanks for your input. I see what you mean about 'where the light is coming from'. The cabin should be in deep shadow from our viewpoint. I'll tinker with it more. I don't think I can make it worse ;-)

On a cold wintery morning the awakening sun rises slowly throgh the trees. Warming and awakening all the woodland creatures that may venture out into the cold forest.
