A young Arthur approaches the stone that holds the mighty sword Excalibur in it's grasp. He is feeling foolish and more than a little embarrassed. "Why has Merlin insisted that I come here?", he thinks to himself. "If the droves of men who have attempted this before me can not do it, why does he think that I will have any chance?" Regardless, he steps up to the stone and takes a deep breath. He braces himself and grasps the sword. At once, the air around him swirls with a peculiar tingling, electrifying sensation and the hairs on the back of his neck raise. At that moment, a sureness and a strange feeling of familiarity comes over Arthur and Excalibur slides from the stone with a sweet singing sound. He is King?! Original approx. 13" x 16" done in Prismacolor pencils on Strathmore matte drawing paper with a clear protective fixative.
