MC: Beauty & the Beast: First Day on the Job

This is for the Member's Challenge: Beauty and the Beast. "First Day on the Job"

I don't often venture into areas that hurt me when I do my art work, but this is one that does. I hesitate to post this.

Beauty here is the innocence and youth that is stolen by the beast of prostitution.

There is a hooker's stroll close to where I work. When I leave at midnight I see them underdressed for the winter weather. And that will not be their only exposure of the night. I feel helpless to do anything for them.

What conditions in their lives cause them to allow the daily raping? What keeps them there? This picture speculates about the beginning, that " First Day on the Job" so to speak.

The youth and colour of the girl is leeched from her by the hand that holds her.

There is a small amount of colour still in the window, a glimmer of escape.

Scary, powerful, thought provoking work Diana!

This is very true to most women who have experienced a raping, and them not being prostitues. When I first saw this image, I knew it was sinister. That's how perfect your artwork was to me. Art speaks to people who have an eye for it. Maybe you can share it on a teen art site, to warn them of this unflattering lifestyle. Great job.

although this work reminds us of the injustice that controls many ...it needs to be addressed and seriously delt with. Mnay choose to ignore this happens in the world until it touches their life in some way. Sad but true and the lack of love and spirituality in the world fuels the fires of hell and hatred. Pornography and lust, rape and murder, fornication and adultery are revered by many in our world. So may set their souls to the path of the flesh and lust and revel in it in their art also. I think you have done a great work and have touched upon a subject that all to often has been ignored, the saddest part of all the rape and muder and abuse of the youngest children of our world. Every day you seem to hear of it every where and the victims struggle to deal with the aftermanth of pain all their lifes with little help or understanding. Art has allot of Power and Pictures say and influence us without verbal voice. It is a good thing you have braved your emotions and dared to be true to reality and those that are taken down the road of destruction. I Pray that God would bless you in all the kind and good things you strive to do. I pray that this work of yours would be blessed. You never know how you may touch a life. Sincerly CB

This is real ! And it is something that needs to be said. Moral issues are hard to confront without true courage. Something you have Diana. Wonderful!
